　　折断树枝时改善最初试图挥杆的区域；树枝没有影响最终选择的挥杆区域

　　球员试图以某一方向打球，球员在该方向进行了一向后挥杆练习，并折断了一阻止其后挥杆动作的树枝。球员后来决定以另一方向打球。后来在新的方向下，试图挥杆的区域没有被折断的树枝改善。该类情况下，球员要按照规则13-2受罚吗？

　　要。当球员改善原来的试图挥杆区域时就已经违反了规则13-2。后来他以另一方向打球，还是不能避免受罚，尽管折断的树枝没有对新方向的挥杆范围造成影响。

Area of Originally Intended Swing Improved by Breaking Branch Area of Swing Finally Used Not Affected by Branch

A player, intending to play in a certain direction, took a practice backswing for a stroke in that direction broke a branch impeding his backswing. The player then decided to play in a different direction. The area of his intended swing for a stroke in this new direction was not improved by the breaking of the branch. In such circumstances, would the player incur a penalty under Rule 13-2?

Yes. The player was in breach of Rule 13-2 as soon as he improved the area of the originally intended swing. The penalty is not avoided if he subsequently plays in another direction, even if the breaking of the branch had no effect on the area of the swing for a stroke in the new direction.
