　　向后挥杆时使树枝折断，挥杆停止

　　球员的球位于一树底下。球员正当采取站位，并开始向后挥杆，试图进行击球。向后挥杆接近顶点时杆头击到并打断了树枝。此时，球员停止挥杆。

　　规则13-2部分声明：“……球员不得改善……试图站位或挥杆区域……除非……在击球过程中或为击球而使球杆向后方运动而且完成击球。”按照该例外条款，球员可以免受处罚吗？

　　不可以。因为挥杆停止了，所以该案例中的球杆向后运动事实上不是为完成击球而进行。

Branch Broken on Backswing Swing Discontinued

A player’s ball lies under a tree. The player fairly takes his stance starts his backswing with the intention of making a stroke. Near the top of his backswing his club strikes a branch breaks it. At that point he discontinues his swing. Rule 13-2 states in part: “… a player must not improve … the area of his intended stance or swing … except … in making a stroke or the backward movement of his club for a stroke.” Is the player exempt from penalty under this exception?

No, because the swing was discontinued, the backward movement of the club was not in fact the backward movement for a stroke. (Revised)
